Terrified at the possibility of losing her husband, a Lagos-based woman, Mrs. Kuburat Okedele pleaded guilty to the charges filed against her by her husband, Mr. Olatunji Okedele.
Their marriage was contracted in 1988 and blessed with two male children.
Her husband had informed the court that he was no longer comfortable with the union as he explained in court that marriage goes beyond just producing children.
“In marriage, the woman plays a major role in sustaining the life of a man and the same applies to a man. But my wife has been engaging me in constant fight because I married another woman. She also threatened to kill me. There is no more love to sustain the marriage. I want immediate dissolution of the marriage and the court should grant me the custody of my two boys,” Okedele asked the court.
Contrary to his expectations, the woman, though absent in court, sent a letter to the court pleading guilty to the charges leveled against her.
Seeking an amicable reconciliation with her husband, she asked the court to intervene on her behalf.
She explained that she had earlier pleaded for forgiveness from her husband and promised to turn a new leaf.
Her remorse and penitence paid off at the end as her husband forgave her and the case was consequently struck out by the court president.
Now that we know how it all ended, what do you think we should give to the wife for her effort? A basket of slaps or a big bag filled with warm hugs?
