Ladies, what would you do if your boyfriend or husband's election gets annulled? Here's what Nigerian ladies had to say about it.
Kehinde Adeyinka
Ah! If the man involved is my husband, ah! We’ll fight o. I won’t take
it easy at the election tribunal at all. I’ll ensure that my husband drags the
case to an election tribunal. If he’s reluctant to go, I’ll do everything I can
to persuade him to go. Look, he must go o. I won’t give him a choice. You never
know what these tribunals are capable of doing. If at the end of the day, the
tribunal rules in our favour, we’ll be excited and most likely throw a party.
We’ll definitely emerge a happier family at the en of the day. There are some
things that you just don’t give up on. If my husband lacks the drive and quest
for greatness, I’ll infuse it in him. Politics isn’t such a bad thing. What kind
of lady would tell you that she doesn’t like the prominence and good fortune
that comes with being a First Lady?
Mrs. Mary Kalu
Oh my God! Annulling my husband’s election is a very bad thing o. I’ll
be very sad because as the wife of a politician, when your husband contests in
an election, you pray and expect him to win and not the other way round. If my
husband’s election is annulled, I’ll have to accept my fate because all these
tribunals have a way of raising your hopes only to dash it after a while. Moreover,
I can’t advise my husband to delve into politics because it would cause a lot
of heartache if we end up on the losing side. However, I want you to know that
the popularity that comes with politics came sometimes, be enjoyable.
Maria Adiku
If that kind of thing happens to my husband, I’ll tell him to leave
everything to God. What if he becomes a governor and is assassinated after a
few months. That would be worse so I’ll talk him into accepting his fate. We’ll
accept it as God’s will. I believe that’s the best thing to do.
Tope Olawunmi
I’ll expect my husband to sustain his ambitious drive. We’ll take the battle to the election tribunal
to fight for it. I’ll stand by his side and we’ll continue to fight for it till
he gets what he rightly deserves.
Peace Ufot
I don’t think I’m going to have much to say because I’ve vowed never to
marry or get intimately involved with a politician or military man. However, if
for one reason or the other, it happens that way, I’ll believe that God doesn’t
want him to be there. The moment that happens, I’ll be convinced that it’s not
the will of God for him to be there.
Yemisi Igbasanmi
Look, there’s nothing he can do. I’ll ask him to accept God’s will.
Look at Agagu and Mimiko in Ondo
State. I believe that if
my husband is destined to get there, he will. The truth is that even if he
spends all his millions, if he won’t win, he won’t win. We could go to the
tribunal if he insists but I’ll remind him that this is Naija politics. We’re
all witnesses to the power play, spiritual attacks, assassination and
desperation involved in Nigerian politics. The truth is that I can’t afford to
lose my husband over politics. What if he’s assassinated along the line?
Bunmi Igbasanmi
It would come to us as bad news because a lot of money would have been pumped
into the campaign. We’ll however accept our faith. Dragging political issues
like this causes lots of problems. The kinds of problems that could come to the
fore include assassination and black mailing. To avoid this, I’ll accept it as
God’s will.
Blessing Ibe
He should forget about it. No matter the time and money wasted, he
should realise it’s not the will of God. I’ll advise him to accept the
cancellation by fate. As far as I’m concerned, going to the tribunal is a waste
of time.
Grace Oliseh
As a loving wife, I’ll tell him to leave the fight for God. Instead of
dragging or fighting over it, I’ll advise him to stop and embrace peace. The
millions of naira he had spent on campaign doesn’t really matter. The best
thing to do in such a situation is to just let go. He should understand that
it’s not a do or die affair. He’ll always get another shot at it. The important
thing is that way in the he shouldn’t go and step on toes that can send him six
feet below.
That's all Nigerian women had to say and i'm sure you've decided whether to give them loads of hugs or series of slaps. Just in case you decide to single them out for personal verdicts, feel free to do so.
