Drama in court
“I don’t love you anymore” – Wife
“Go away! I’m equally tired
of you” – Hubby
In a candid case of love gone sour, an Ikorodu based couple, Mrs.
Gbemisola Onileowo and her husband, Mr. Mukaila Onileowo have dragged each
other before a customary court asking for divorce.
The woman had earlier informed an Ikorodu Customary Court that she was no
longer in love with the man and appealed to the court to sever their
matrimonial ties.
Despite expressing herself in her mother tongue (Yoruba language), she insisted
on parting ways with the man.
In addition to absence of love for the man, she told the court that she
was not interested in any reconciliatory moves the court might have in mind.
When asked about the possibility of giving the man some time to make moves
towards salvaging their marriage, she said, “We have not reconciled. The truth
of the matter is that there’s no more love between us. All I want is for us to
be divorced.”
In his reaction, the man, Mr. Onileowo stunned the court when he revealed
that he was equally fed up of the union.
“I’m equally fed up and I want the dissolution of our marriage as
well,” she said.
On custody of their children, the man asked the court to grant his
custody of their four children. “At the moment, my four children are with me
while she has one. I want custody of the children,” he said.
Still on the issue of custody, the women made it clear that she didn’t
have any problem with her husband’s arrangement but appealed to the court to
allow her access to the children in their schools.
“He can have custody as long as I can go and visit them in school. I
also have one child in my custody as we speak. The child in question is 4 years
old.”
Ruling on the matter, the Court President dissolved the marriage.
Custody of the children was awarded to the man. In addition to this, the man
was asked to pay N2, 000 monthly for the upkeep of the children besides their
school fees and medical bills.
Visibly unhappy with the financial tone of the judgment, the man asked
the court to ensure that the woman returns his property, which he claimed she
packed out of his house.
Now that we know what happened, i would like to know who we send out bouquet of slaps to - the husband or the wife?
If however, you feel both parties deserve the slap, do let us know. One thing that's crystal clear is that there isn't going to be a hug here today.
