Evangelist in divorce mess, says:
‘Her evil disturbs my
evangelical calling’
All is definitely not well between a Lagos based Evangelist, Prophet
Femi Ayodele and his wife, Mrs. Funke Deborah Adepetu as the man of God has
dragged wife before a court seeking divorce.
The once peaceful matrimonial atmosphere in their 22 Salawu Street, Ishaga residence is
literally devoid of matrimonial love as the prophet has asked the court to dissolve
his 33-year-old marriage.
In the divorce suit, he made it clear
that he was no longer in love with the woman.
When prodded, he began to narrate how his wife’s alleged evil nature
had overtime constituted a major hindrance to his spiritual calling into
evangelism.
The 60-year-old Evangelist also told the court that his wife’s level of
disrespect for him had become absolutely intolerable.
"She lacks respect and I can’t tolerate this anymore. She hinders
my duty as an Evangelist. After the burial of her father, I advised her to make
a love feast so that things can be good for both of them but she refused. As a
result of her actions, I was posted to any church as a minister. I want this
divorce.”
He revealed that the love between them had become very vague. He added
that the last time he lived with the woman under the same roof was in 1989.
“She left me in 1989. How can she still claim to be my wife? We’ve been separated
for 18 years. Isn’t that bad enough?”
In her reaction, the woman who resides at Alagbado in Lagos informed the court that her husband was
a very unstable man. She narrated to the court how her husband had failed to
provide her even the most basic need.
The 54-year-old trader also confirmed her husband’s assertion that the
love between them had deteriorated. “In the beginning, there was love but now…
We kept moving from one house to another and kept owing rent. He eventually
relocated to the church while I started living in my shop since we couldn’t
afford to rent a house. He had a wife before me who bore him a child but the
child is now late.
Ruling on the matter, the court president dissolved the
marriage and urged both parties to maintain peace. The issue of custody was not in contention as
the court noted that the children (33-year-old Ronke Oyetayo, 29-year-old Ibitoye
Sulaiman, 27-year-old Mary Olorundare and 24-year-old Mayowa Ayodele) were all
grown ups.
That's how their story ended and I strongly feel one of them should leave with a warm hug while the other should be blessed with a blinding slap. As usual, you get to decide who gets what.
